It is developed for a small, partial news feed. It is NOT developed to feed 10,000 groups and 3 Gigs of articles a day. This package contains software for copying news from an NNTP server to your local machine, and copying replies back up to an NNTP server. It works with most standard NNTP servers, comprising INN, CNEWS, DNEWS, and typhoon. The suck/rpost combination allows you to to run your own site, controlling where you receive your news, and where you post outgoing articles. Leafnode - Not Specified Added on 13-Jun-2004
News server for small sites Leafnode is a news server for small sites that is very easy to install and maintain. It was originally written by Arnt Gulbrandsen and available from www.troll.no . However, Arnt has recently indicated that he does not have time to continue working on the software.Updating to this version is only important for people who suffer from a news server that does not honour the "LIST NEWSGROUPS news.groups.name" command. This concerns at least users of demon.co.uk and people who have nntpcache as their upstream servers. An option had been introduced in 1.7 to deal with this kind of problem, but embarrassingly, it didn't work as intended.

Gnus - Not Specified Added on 12-May-2004
News reader Gnus is a Usenet Newsreader and Electronic Mail User Agent implemented as a part of Emacs. It's been around in some form for over 6 years now, and has been spread as a standard part of Emacs for much of that time. Gnus 5 is the latest (and greatest) incarnation. The original version was called GNUS, and was written by Masanobu UMEDA. When autumn crept up in '94, Lars Magne Ingebrigtsen grew bored and decided to rewrite Gnus. Its biggest strength is the fact that it is extremely configurable. It is somewhat intimidating at first glance, but most of the complexity can be ignored until you're ready to take advantage of it. If you receive a reasonable volume of e-mail (you're on different mailing lists), or you would like to read high-volume mailing lists but cannot keep up with them, then you definitely want to investigate Gnus for reading mail.
