App Switcher 0.9.8 - Freeware Added on 23-Jul-2003
Switch between apps with ease. App Switcher is a software switcher for Mac OS X similar to Windows' job switcher, or Proteron's LiteSwitch for Mac OS 9. If you're not familiar with how it works, you press a key combination (defaults to option-tab) that brings up a window with all of your open softwares in it. It stays up while you hold down option, and each press of tab advances to the next software. When you release option, the software you selected comes forward. This is a lot like the Dock's command-tab feature. The key difference is that App Switcher orders your softwares front-to-back, so that one press of option-tab always gets you to the software you were in before the current one. Two presses gets you to the one you were using before that, and more. (Jaguar's Dock does an identical thing with your first press of command-tab, but afterwards it goes in the order of your icons in the Dock, that is usually not very useful.) It makes switching fastly between a few softwares very easy. App Switcher also allows you to to quit, hide, and show running softwares from the job window without even bringing them to the foreground. This could be useful for, say, quietly getting rid of that window with the Anarchist's Cookbook while your boss is looking over your shoulder, without letting him know what's going on. There are other uses for this too, of course.
SMARTReporter 2.0b1 - Freeware Added on 30-Sep-2004
Pre-hard drive failure warning software. SMARTReporter is a software that can warn you of (S)ATA hard-drive failures before they actually happen! It does so by periodically polling the S.M.A.R.T.-status of your hard-drives. S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Checking Analysis and Reporting Technology) is a technology built into most modern hard-drives that acts as an "early warning system" for pending drive problems. Because SMARTReporter relies on the S.M.A.R.T. implementation of Mac OS X, it only supports (S)ATA hard-drives, if you want S.M.A.R.T. support for your SCSI, USB or FireWire hard-drive, send feedback to Apple.
Repair Disk Utility`s Permissions 3.0 - Freeware Added on 17-Jan-2004
Fix Disk Software`s own permissions. One of the more ironic permissions issues in OS X Jaguar is when the permissions of the Disk Software software itself become corrupted. This can prevent you from being able to use Disk Software's "Repair Permissions" tab to repair the permissions on your disk, comprising those of the Disk Software software itself.
